Starting in 1942 Lancaster carried the night bombing offensives deep into Germany and set its place in history with the sinking of the Tirpitz and the destruction of the Eder and Möhne dams. The Lancaster was able to haul a bomb payload of up to 9980 kg. It served in 68 RAF squadrons and completed over 156000 missions.
