I remember going to a fishing seminar a decade or so ago and watching Ronnie Kovac demo a Penn 114 in a trolling application. He had another guy grab the line and pull on it while Ron held onto the bending rod. Suddenly there was a loud noise and BOOM, the reel went flying off the rod. The guys didn’t bother to put on the clamp, the reel’s foot bent under pressure and popped out of the reel seat.

Here’s the Great Stuff about these Machined Aluminum (and anodized) reel clamps. The six sizes offered will fit virtually every reel on the market (or at least 97% of ’em). The clamps are anodized in black and gold. The gold clamps are made two ways, one matching Penn Internationals and one matching Shimano’s Tiagra line which has a lighter shade of gold.
