Baseline Tactile Monofilaments are medical-grade instruments used to test for loss of sensation in the hands or feet (subcutaneous sensory perception threshold). These fine-tipped, nylon instruments are pressed against the skin to check for loss of sensation due to nerve damage caused by arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes, neuropathy, injury and more. Impaired sensation can lead to balance problems and injury. Results are then used to create a treatment plan of care.
