After their successes with the likes of the M1 in the 80s, Alpina looked towards reinvention in the 90s. The 'serious fun' range was a deliberate attempt to diversify from their sporting stronghold into fashion. Pitching a diffusion range with that name to a German board of directors is not a job I would've volunteered for, but somebody did and they succeeded.
